Better than Jeezy, better than Weezy, better than 50, better than Ricky — Clipse actually makes you think, “If I’m going to make it big, I’m going to need to start selling cocaine.”
If you said to a friend, “You know, I think I’m gonna start selling yayo,” your friend would wonder how he had known you all these years and is just now discovering your severe mental retardation. But if you said, “So I was listening to Clipse, and I think I’m gonna start selling yayo,” your friend would just sit there and nod in agreement, then ask if you needed any help with start-up costs.
“Door Man” follows Clipse’s formula for success: a Neptunes beat and coke-rap lyrics by Malice and Pusha T. The only complaint: Pusha should have let Malice sing the chorus. Malice has a more interesting voice than Pusha, it’s better for choruses and features and such. Malice is defnitely on the featured artist all-star team with Jay-Z. But who else?
